Warranty Period:
Kia Vehicles
The warranty period provided to the original purchaser of the Kia Carnival from Freedom Motors is seven (7) years or 200,000kms (for vehicles under 10,000kms) and five (5) years or 100,000kms (for vehicles over 10,000kms), whichever comes first, immediately following the date on which goods are delivered.
Hyundai Vehicles
The warranty period provided to the original purchaser of the Hyundai Staria (including drive from wheelchair modification) from Freedom Motors is five (5) years or 160,000kms (for vehicles under 50,000kms) and three (3) years or 60,000kms (for vehicles over 50,000kms), whichever comes first, immediately following the date on which the goods are delivered.
All Other Vehicles
The warranty period provided to the original purchaser of all other vehicle models (including drive from wheelchair modification) from Freedom Motors is five (5) years or 100,000kms (for vehicles under 50,000kms) and three (3) years or 60,000kms (for vehicles over 50,000kms), whichever comes first, immediately following the date on which the goods are delivered.
Warranty Scope:
The Warranty applies to all work performed by Freedom Motors Australia. This includes lowered floor, ramp and mechanisms, and work performed under the floor and on the rear axle, fuel tank (but not the fuel pump).
Some components are covered by the original/ aftermarket manufacturer’s/ agent’s warranty:
- Exhaust system – 3 years
- Rear fold down seat – 3 years
- Shocks & springs – 2 years
- Ramp spring – 2 years
- Wheelchair restraining & safety belts – 1 year
- Electric wheelchair restraints – 1 year
- Remote rear door – 1 year
- Ramp opening system – 1 year
- Seat transfer system – 1 year
- Wheelchair winch system – 1 year
- Docking system – 1 year
- Driving controls – 1 year
At Freedom Motors discretion, we will repair or replace all goods which are found to be defective due to either faulty workmanship or defective materials used in the wheelchair vehicle conversion.
Warranty Repair Conditions:
Freedom Motors will undertake warranty work by either:
- Conducting repairs and/or replacing parts at our designated service centre.
- Arranging a third party to conduct the repairs or replacements on our behalf.
Warranty work must be agreed by Freedom Motors in writing before any work is carried out. Failure to do so will invalidate the warranty.
The vehicle is to be returned to Freedom Motors designated repair centre by the customer unless authorised otherwise by Freedom Motors in writing.
For all other warranty issues (other than modification work) contact the motor dealer directly.
Your Responsibilities:
- You must operate, maintain and care for your vehicle and conversion components in accordance with the instructions in the operator’s manual.
- You must complete the warranty card and return it to Freedom Motors within 7 days of purchase to implement the warranty. Failure to do so will invalidate the warranty. The warranty/registration card (shown in the manual) is supplied with each vehicle.
- If the customer does not want to return the vehicle to a Freedom Motors designated repair centre and a Freedom Motors service person needs to come out, then a call out fee will be charged at the current hourly rate.
Third Party Repairs and Repairers:
- Where Freedom Motors has agreed that the third-party repairer is to be used, work shall not commence until Freedom Motors has issued a written agreement for the work to be carried out.
- A written quotation from the repairer is required by Freedom Motors prior to the commencement of the work.
- Freedom Motors retains the right to inspect the vehicle or faulty parts prior to third party repairs commencing.
What is not covered by the warranty:
- Repairs and service adjustments required due to misuse, negligence, water ingress, improper adjustments or repairs by non-authorised repairers, alterations, tampering, disconnection, accident, or modification are not covered.
- Defects caused by the installation of non-Freedom Motors approved parts, accessories, add on parts, improper or lack of maintenance are not covered.
- Scratches, or surface rust caused by normal wear and tear, such as stone, or other chips, in the paint are not covered.
- Environmental damage, such as hailstones, windstorms, flooding, fire, lightening or airborne fallout (chemicals, tree sap, bird & insect droppings, etc.) are not covered.
- Incidentals such as phone calls, car rentals, taxi charges, hotel bills, loss of income, inconveniences or commercial loss are not covered.
- Damage caused by improper use or lack of maintenance than those specified by Freedom Motors for the wheelchair conversion is not covered.
- Pick up and / or delivery of vehicles for repair is not covered unless authorised by Freedom Motors in writing.
- Any parts of the vehicle which are not part of the wheelchair conversion are not covered.
- Any unauthorised alterations or additions to the conversion are not covered.
- Wear & tear products including tyres & brake pads are not covered.
The difference between repair and a maintenance service:
- A warranty repair is a repair performed during the warranty period to rectify any problem caused by the faulty materials and/or workmanship. It is normally free of charge.
- Maintenance service includes inspections, investigations, checks and replacement of normal wearing parts due to accumulated distance, usage or time. It is competitively priced.
Non-Compliance to the warranty conditions will invalidate the warranty.
