I recently picked up my converted VW Multivan from Freedom Motors. It's the conversion posted on Nov 25. It was a fairly lengthy process from start to finish, but it is a pretty serious conversion.
If I had to use only one phrase to describe the result it would be "life changing". I've only had it around 6 weeks and already done nearly 4000kms in it. It has allowed me to re enter the workforce, take trips with the family, visit friends, all with no reliance on any outside assistance. After nearly 3 years relying on Taxis and the 10 or so before that requiring assistance with transfers, loading and unloading the chair it's fair to say the world looks very different now.
There are a lot of design and engineering components that need to be overcome in a mod like this and when you modify one area it inevitably affects something else. The end result in my conversion brings it all together in a way that works and is pleasing to the eye. When I picked it up I was impressed how nice everything inside still looked given the extent of what was done.
It didn't take long driving it to see how well it all works. Overall I'm very grateful to all the team at Freedom for pulling this off. For anyone contemplating a self drive conversion but are a bit nervous to get it done I can just say do it. You wont regret it.
